33EMYBW is the project of Wu Shanmin, an electronic musician and digital visual artist based in Shanghai and part of the SVBKVLT label. She calls her music limb dance: inspired by arthropods, meaning insects, spiders, crustaceans and other exoskeletal creatures, she builds beats that evolve in a way meant to suggest tiny creatures dancing around the listener. Releases such as Golem, Arthropods, Trans-Aeon Express and Holes Of Sinian map a sound of pinging synth lines, mangled samples and drum patterns set wilfully off the grid, and she has contributed a composition to an Unsound Festival album and recorded a mix for RA. Her Dekmantel podcast, from 2020, was a live recording made only from her own, mostly unreleased music, with demos and improvised passages.
