Abdullah Miniawy

Abdullah Miniawy is an Egyptian singer, poet, producer and composer. Raised in Saudi Arabia, he began writing poetry at eight, moved to Egypt at seventeen and became known as a young voice of the 2012 revolution before settling in Paris. His work spans jazz, electronics and composition: Le Cri du Caire with trumpeter Erik Truffaz, a long collaboration with the German trio Carl Gari, acting in the film Tlamess and a published book of poetry. With French producer Simo Cell he made the Kill Me or Negotiate EP and then the album Dying Is The Internet for Dekmantel's UFO series, heavyweight soundsystem music driven by his Arabic lyricism, trumpet and auto-tuned voice. The pair perform it live at Dekmantel Festival.
