Adam X
Adam X, born Adam Mitchell, grew up in Brooklyn writing graffiti before drum machine records pulled him into techno alongside his older brother Frankie Bones. In 1990 the pair opened Groove Records, later Sonic Groove, the first all-techno record shop in New York, and their crew threw the Storm Rave warehouse parties that seeded the East Coast scene. He launched the Sonic Groove label in 1995 under the banner Futuristic Electronic Underground Experiments, and after the shop closed he moved to Berlin in 2007, where he ran the Crossing the Parallel parties. His projects Traversable Wormhole and ADMX-71, the latter with the album Coherent Abstractions on L.I.E.S., pushed industrial, EBM and rhythmic noise into techno. He also hosts the Sonic Groove podcast, interviewing artists from the nineties.
