Aleksi Perälä

Aleksi Perälä was making records as a teenager in the nineties and self-released several albums as Ovuca before signing to Rephlex, where he also recorded as Astrobotnia and collaborated with Cylob. He studied music technology in Helsinki and worked in the studio of Finnish electronic pioneer Erkki Kurenniemi. Since 2014 his work has followed Colundi, a tuning system he developed with Rephlex co-founder Grant Wilson-Claridge that replaces Western scales with 128 resonant frequencies. From his home in Lahti he records live improvisations with prepared sounds and scales, and for a period released a new album every two weeks, timed to the lunar cycle, passing a hundred albums on Bandcamp. The results are bright, melodic post-rave tracks with a cosmic optimism.
