Antal Heitlager co-founded Rush Hour in Amsterdam in 1997, and the store, label and distributor grew into one of the city's most important musical exports, with the Kindred Spirits sub-label alongside. As a teenager he took overnight buses to London to buy records at Fat Cat, Atlas and Reckless, and he still arrives in a country empty and leaves full after digging trips. Rush Hour releases contemporary house and techno next to reissues of forgotten classics, including the 2015 Soichi Terada compilation that relaunched the Japanese producer's career. Playing since 1996, he moves from Chicago and Detroit house to rare Afro funk and forgotten disco on rotary mixers, and his back-to-back sets with Hunee at Dekmantel Festival are among the festival's most shared recordings.
