Arp Frique

Arp Frique is the project of Dutch musician and producer Niels Nieuborg, who spent twenty years inside Cape Verdean music culture, first playing guitar in a Cape Verdean band. His studio stood in Rotterdam, home to the largest Cape Verdean community outside the islands, before he moved to Zaandam. His debut EP on Rush Hour, led by the single Nos Magia, was shortlisted for Track of the Year at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Awards. The album Welcome To The Colorful World Of Arp Frique, released in 2018 on his own Colorful World label, folds New York disco, funk and boogie into Caribbean and Cape Verdean rhythms with guests Orlando Julius, Ed Motta, Americo Brito and Ronald Snijders, all played on live instruments. He tours with a full band.
