Awanto 3

Awanto 3 is the alter ego of Steven de Peven, a fixture of Amsterdam's house and boogie underground for more than twenty years. Raised on jazz, hip hop, soul and latin as much as house, techno and juke, he held his first residency at seventeen in Den Helder, then moved to Amsterdam and ran a jazz-leaning night at Vaaghuyzen that led to residencies at Mazzo. He was part of the Rednose Distrikt crew with Kid Sublime and Aardvarck, records as Alfabet with Tom Trago, and has collaborated with San Proper for Rush Hour. His EPs have appeared on Rush Hour, Voyage Direct and Dekmantel, where he released the album Gargamel, and he has played Panorama Bar, Concrete and Dekmantel Festival.
