B12 pres. Electro-Soma
B12 is the British duo of Mike Golding and Steve Rutter, who met in the late eighties over a shared love of Detroit techno by Juan Atkins and Derrick May. Inspired by Plus 8, they founded B12 Records in 1991 and issued limited coloured vinyl under a flurry of pseudonyms, among them Musicology, Redcell and Cmetric, with cryptic messages etched into the run-out grooves. Warp signed them to its Artificial Intelligence series alongside Autechre and The Black Dog, and their debut album Electro-Soma, gathering early B12 Records tracks, followed in 1993. The Electro-Soma presentation revisits that landmark of emotive, science-fiction-tinged ambient techno, performed at the UFO II stage at Dekmantel Festival 2025.
