Bok Bok
Bok Bok is the London DJ and producer Alex Sushon, director of the Night Slugs label. With Night Slugs and the circle of artists around it, he shaped a decade of the UK underground, mutating grime, bass, techno and r&b into sleek, functional club music. His production work reaches beyond the club, including tracks for the Warp singer Kelela. He later launched a second label, AP Life, which opened with a collection of UK drill and grime instrumentals by Nammy Wams. His DJ sets rest on muscular drums, whether funky, broken or straight, with bright synths and samples on top. His Dekmantel Podcast ran from Karizma and DJ Lag to Cooly G and Kingdom, and he played The Nest at Dekmantel Ten.
