Bonnefooi

Bonnefooi is Michel van der Meer, one of the Netherlands' serious diggers, with a deep love of African, disco and tropical music from the seventies to the nineties. His route into that music ran through hip-hop: curiosity about the origin of samples led him to a collection of classics and forgotten gems from the sixties and seventies. He works at the Rush Hour store in Amsterdam, where new and old finds keep arriving, and he shared them on his Red Light Radio residency. As a producer he has worked with Jaystar, Aaumffie and Luie Jongens and made an album with rapper Dennis T. His sets move through funk, soul, disco and afrobeat, and he recorded a Radio by Rush Hour set for Dekmantel Connects in 2020.
