Broken English Club
Broken English Club is the industrial techno project of Oliver Ho. His album Songs of Love and Decay, his seventh under the name, was released on Dekmantel Records and is dedicated to the memory of Juan Mendez, Silent Servant. Ho's path into electronic music ran from Tangerine Dream and Brian Eno to Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92, then to London raves like the LOST parties, where he first heard Detroit techno and Chicago house. His music places brutal industrial sounds next to spacious ambient passages and pairs retro references with glitchy, modern production. Death metal, punk, the band Suicide, the occult and the films of John Carpenter and David Lynch all feed into his take on techno.
