Calibre

Calibre is Dominick Martin, a Belfast-born painter, multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer, producer and DJ whose productions helped define liquid funk, the drum and bass style partly named after his sound. In the early 2000s Fabio played his tracks, many then unreleased, on his BBC Radio 1 show Liquid Funk and at Swerve. Most of his output comes through his own Signature Records, including the Shelflife series, with further releases on Hospital, V Recordings, Creative Source and Soul:R, starting with the debut album Musique Concrète. Across more than twenty albums he has moved from drum and bass into dub, techno, house, ambient, jazz, soul and folk with a restrained melancholy. His long DJ sets, often alongside MC DRS, lean on his own material. He played Dekmantel Festival in 2023.
