Calypso Steve

Calypso Steve is an Amsterdam DJ best known for running things at Redlight Records, where he can be found at the counter almost daily. The shop built its reputation on championing the musically unconventional and recordings that slipped through the cracks but deserve the utmost appreciation, and his sharp ear for hidden pearls is a large part of that. His sets carry the same habit onto the dancefloor: overlooked records and unfamiliar cuts, chosen for their character rather than their reputation, mixed with the patience of someone who spends his days listening through other people's collections and knows where the pearls sit.
