Carlos Valdes

Carlos Valdes bought his first techno record in 1999 and has been a fixture of Amsterdam nightlife for over two decades as a DJ, promoter and label owner. In April 2014 he and Sandrien launched IsBurning at Trouw, a queer night for all gender identities that never announces its line-ups, on the principle that everyone is a headliner. After Trouw closed the party moved through Cruquiusgilde, Shelter, De Marktkantine and Warehouse Elementenstraat, and it has staged editions in Munich, London, Barcelona and São Paulo. He co-owns Pamela, one of the city's best known queer bars. Drawing on a deep collection of Chicago and Detroit house and techno, he has played Panorama Bar, Blitz, Bassiani, Glastonbury and Dekmantel Festival.
