Cashu
Without people like Cashu, São Paulo's queer community would not be thriving the way it is. The co-founder of the Mamba Negra collective, party and label has worked tirelessly for many years to provide safe spaces and creative outlets and to raise funds for the LGBTQIA+ community. She closely intertwines politics and dancing at events that reclaim urban spaces, and she now keeps an international DJ diary that takes her breaks, techno, dancehall and electro to Amsterdam, Berlin and Dekmantel Selectors. Her sets are full-throttle party selections that fire through house, club and techno rhythms, some bouncing on big bass, some twisted with raw percussion, some stripped back to loopy drums and trippy sound design, all adding up to a colourful carnival atmosphere.
