CEM

CEM is Cem Dukkha, born and raised in a Turkish household in Vienna, where he found techno at underground parties at eighteen before moving to Berlin to make music his work. In 2016 he founded Herrensauna with Nicolas Endlicher, also known as MCMLXXXV, a queer techno party named after the culture of gay men's saunas and built for people who felt Berlin nightlife had grown too straight, too touristic and too commercial. As curator and resident he shapes its mix of frenetic DJs and industrial-edged live acts, and the party has travelled far beyond the city, with a Boiler Room session to its name. His own compositions work with electronic, percussion and string instruments, noise, repetitive loops, processed vocals and dissonant ambient arrangements. He has played sets of nine hours.
