Chinnamasta

Chinnamasta is the DJ name of Raziyah Heath, an Amsterdam-based Caribbean DJ and sonic and cultural researcher for whom DJing extends her research practice. Her sets trace the sonic routes of the Atlantic, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean, layering rhythms, archives, samples, vocals and bass from across the Afro diaspora, with a taste for the murky street sounds of the global black underground. The name, taken from the goddess of death, rebirth and contradiction, frames a project on the worldwide impact of Caribbean music. Her research on echo and decay, drawing on the Jamaican scholar Louis Chude-Sokei, runs as the radio series The Echochamber on Oroko Radio, and she has held a sonic residency at SAVVY Contemporary and mixed for Patta. She played Lentekabinet in 2024.
