Chris SSG

As co-founder of the MNML SSGS blog, Chris SSG was at the heart of dance music's most pressing discussions and cutting-edge sounds from 2007 to 2012. Originally from Melbourne, he has been based between Osaka and Tokyo for some time. In Tokyo he has hosted a number of events, and he plays his own ambient, techno and experimental sets around Japan and at European clubs like Nachtdigital, Sustain-Release and Berghain. He half-jokingly describes his style as big room ambient, moving between different energies and making contrasts across long sessions. His Dekmantel mix, a four-hour recording of a deep-space ambient session at a chill-out party in Tokyo, explores worlds from textured and tense to blissed out and beautiful, held together by a narrative arc.
