Cinema Royale

Cinema Royale is Arne Visser, an Amsterdam record collector whose name comes from his first obsession, movie soundtracks. Supported early on by Eddy De Clercq and Mondo Lucien, and inspired by DJ Harvey, Moodymann and Ron Hardy, he learned to take rare and unexpected records out of context and mix them into one coherent journey. His vinyl sets move through new disco, deep house, eighties, funk, Brazilian music, soul and experimental jazz. He was a long standing Red Light Radio regular and a fixture of Amsterdam's underground nightlife, and he has played Paradiso, Mysteryland and Dekmantel Festival, alongside art events and fashion shows and private parties for Steven Spielberg and Dita Von Teese. He has worked with visual artist Micha Klein and trumpeter Saskia Laroo.
