Cosmic Force

Cosmic Force is the Dutch producer Ben Spaander, who started his musical life at fifteen making mixtapes with a cassette recorder and a turntable borrowed from his mother. He moved on to experimenting with guitar stompboxes and effects processors on existing music, drawn to the hip-hop and electro of the early eighties as well as the experiments of Pierre Henry, Oskar Sala and Kraftwerk. The first Cosmic Force record came out on Clone Records in 1996, and he has since released under several other names, among them Ototax, Proskool, Double Dutch and Dr. Switch. He played a live set at Dekmantel Festival in 2019.
