Dea Barandana

Dea Barandana, born Aradea Barandana, comes from Jakarta, where he started out mixing records for a local breakdance crew and later threw warehouse parties. He then moved one island further to Bali, where he became a regular at Potato Head Beach Club and Studio Eksotika. His DJing is built on rarities old and new, and he connects the musical threads of the Asian diaspora, from grooving disco and bright Asian synthpop to darker, more spiritual passages with strong percussion and sturdy bass lines. His 100-minute Selectors Podcast moved from forgotten record store finds to modern club music and back again, evoking island life along the way. He made the step to the international circuit with a set at Dekmantel Selectors 2019.
