Debmaster

Debmaster is the French producer Julien Deblois, long based in Berlin and behind many releases on Hakuna Kulala, the Kampala label linked to the Nyege Nyege collective. In Berlin he played live with noise-minded friends such as Jason Forrest, Patric Catani and Chris Imler. In 2015 Nyege Nyege invited him to send beats to artists recording weekly in a DIY studio in Kampala, and around 2018 he began working with MC Yallah on the EP Ndi Mukazi, followed by the album Kubali. He has also produced records for Ecko Bazz, Biga Yut and Will'stone. MC Yallah and Debmaster performed live together at Dekmantel Festival in 2022.
