Debora Ipekel

Istanbul-born Debora Ipekel is a London-based DJ and radio host whose monthly Zel Zele show runs on NTS and Worldwide FM. She also runs Zel Zele Records, a label that moves between dusty crates and contemporary artists, with releases such as DALGA, a selection of eighties pop oddities from Turkey, a solidarity compilation after the 2023 Turkey and Syria earthquakes, and records by Lay Llamas, Berk Icli and Ümit Aksu Orkestrası. Her sets, heard at listening spots such as Brilliant Corners, travel through trippy fusion, Turkish folk and psych, jazz-funk and krautrock, favouring traditional instrumentation and psychedelic takes on funk, jazz and soul. She mixed Dekmantel Podcast 244 and played Dekmantel Selectors.
