DJ Assault

DJ Assault is Craig Adams, born in Detroit, who grew up on The Electrifying Mojo's radio shows and started DJing at twelve at high school parties. After a spell in Atlanta with the rap duo Assault-n-Battery he came home in the nineties and, with producer Mr. De', released a run of singles on Electrofunk and Assault Rifle Records. Sex On The Beach and Ass-N-Titties, from the 1996 Pimps And Players EP, became anthems of ghettotech, the Detroit style built on ghetto house, minimal electro and Miami bass lyricism that he helped define alongside DJ Godfather and DJ Funk. His 2001 album Jefferson Ave took the sound abroad, and he later founded a label under the same name. He describes DJ Assault as a character he plays.
