DJ Earl

DJ Earl is a Chicago producer and DJ and a member of the Teklife crew, one of the leading voices in the evolution of footwork. His music fuses hyper-syncopated rhythms with soul, old-school samples and jazz, and has appeared on Hyperdub, Planet Mu, Teklife and Astrophonica. The Moveltraxx label released his second album, BASS + FUNK & SOUL, inspired by a trip to Brazil, and he has built running series with fellow Chicagoans, from the Stepbrothers releases with King Agee to the 144 collaboration with DJ Manny. Records such as FOOTJAZZ point to the jazz and club communities he works across. His Dekmantel Podcast 308 is an hour of drum patterns and vocal samples that swings between deep soul and frantic club pressure.
