Fafi Abdel Nour
Fafi Abdel Nour was born in Syria and moved to Groningen at the age of three, and he is based in Amsterdam. At club OOST in Groningen he co-founded the queer night HOMOOST, later renamed BUTTS, with MSJY, a party built to give marginalised people a floor of their own. His sets draw on house from the nineties, the warm and dramatic melodies of the years between 1992 and 1998, with melodic passages, house-inflected body music and breakbeats woven in. He recorded episode 431 of the Dekmantel Podcast, played back-to-back sets at Dekmantel Selectors and Lowlands, and holds a residency at Amsterdam club RAUM. His mantra is simple: love is the message.
