Helena Hauff

Hamburg's Helena Hauff studied fine art, physics and systematic musicology before becoming a DJ at the Golden Pudel Club, where she hosted the night Birds and Other Instruments. Her stripped-down electro and techno is recorded on analogue equipment and draws on acid house, EBM and industrial music. After the Actio Reactio EP in 2013 and records for labels including Hypnobeat, she released her debut album, Discreet Desires, on Werkdiscs in 2015, followed by Qualm on Ninja Tune. She runs the Return To Disorder label, and in 2017 became the first woman to have BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix of the year. At Dekmantel Festival she has played with DJ Stingray, closed the main stage and taken over the UFO.
