HUNEE

Hun Choi was born in Bochum to South Korean parents and started out as a hip-hop DJ in Berlin at nineteen, working the counter at Soultrade while studying musicology. He moved to Amsterdam as Rush Hour reinvented itself and Dekmantel found its feet, and both became his home base. His album Hunch Music and the compilation Hunchin' All Night, both on Rush Hour, map his range, and he curated the reissue of Soichi Terada's early nineties material that relaunched the Japanese producer's career. As a DJ he runs disco, African records, Italo, boogie, electro and techno into one line, and his back-to-back closing set with Antal at Dekmantel Festival is still one of the festival's most shared recordings.
