Hyph11E

Hyph11E is a producer and DJ from Beijing who moved to Shanghai after a weekend at the club Shelter, the birthplace of the SVBKVLT label, and became one of the key figures of the city's club scene. Her track Black Pepper, a sleek and snarling fusion of gqom and grime, gave SVBKVLT its first real hit. Her debut album Aperture, also on SVBKVLT, distilled jungle, footwork and turn-of-the-millennium drum and bass into a dark, sub-heavy record built around negative space, which Resident Advisor counted among the best club records of 2020. Kode9 and M.E.S.H. have remixed her work, and the Slip B EP with the Kenyan producer Slikback came out of his tour of China with the SVBKVLT crew. She played Dekmantel Festival in 2023.
