J-Zbel
J-Zbel is a masked trio from Lyon and a flagship act of Brothers From Different Mothers, the label founded in the city in 2014 by Judaah and closed after ten years. The members stay anonymous and the spirit stays underground. Its first EP, How I Made My Mom & Sis' My Sexbot Slaves from 2015, set the template: chopped-up percussive groovers and hat-laden shufflers built from drum and bass drum work, acid bass and drama-charged pads. The album Dog's Fart Is So Bad The Cat Throws Up and the EP Hyena Sticks Head In Elephant's Butt followed, blending breakbeat, techno, jungle, trance and early rave. The trio recorded a podcast for L.I.E.S., played Nuits Sonores in 2019 and the Red Light Radio stage at Dekmantel Festival that same year.
