Jungle By Night

Jungle By Night is an Amsterdam band formed in 2009, after drummer Sonny Groeneveld saw the American afrobeat group Budos Band. Starting from instrumental afrobeat, the band mixed funk, jazz, dub and rock, organised Felabration tributes to Fela Kuti at Paradiso and recorded Brass Sabbath with The Gaslamp Killer. Albums including Hidden, The Hunt, The Traveller and Livingstone took them to Pinkpop, Glastonbury, North Sea Jazz and Lowlands. Algorhythm, released on V2, turned towards electronic dance music, with synths, drums, bass, guitar and percussion lifted by trumpet and trombone, somewhere between analogue dance music, Krautrock, funk and eighties electro. The band performed at Lentekabinet in 2024.
