Kareem Ali

Kareem Ali is a New York-born producer based in Phoenix who came to dance music late and quickly built a large catalogue. As a child he wanted to be a rocket scientist, and the cosmos sits at the core of his music, guided by Afrofuturism and by Sun Ra, Herbie Hancock, Larry Heard, Underground Resistance and Drexciya. Jazz came first: Miles Davis's Kind of Blue led him to the trumpet in middle school. Tracks such as Night Echoes carry his hypnotic deep house, while his catalogue also takes in techno, ambient, hip-hop and drum and bass. Rolling Stone named his album G R O W T H among the best of 2020, and he runs the label CosmoFlux. He recorded a Dekmantel Podcast.
