Karen Gwyer
Karen Gwyer grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where as a teenager she fell for the melodic techno of Claude Young and Drexciya. Based in London for many years, she came to production relatively late and worked through ambient, noise, drone, house and techno depending on mood and the gear at hand. Her debut album Needs Continuum came out on No Pain In Pop in 2013, followed the same year by Kiki The Wormhole, with EPs such as New Roof and Bouloman and records for Alien Jams, Nous Disques and Opal Tapes. Her third album, Rembo, on Don't Be Afraid, pushed her sound towards harder and more direct techno. She performs live, improvising on hardware such as an Octatrack and an Analog Rytm, and later settled in France.
