Kessler

Kessler is a Belfast-born DJ and producer based in Rotterdam, where he runs the Elicit label and its club nights. He shaped his sound in Belfast, pairing melancholic, dreamlike atmospheres with heavy, detailed drum breaks, and his records have appeared on Shall Not Fade, Holding Hands and Elicit. The lineage of UK bass music runs through the work without fixing it in place: techno mutations, dubbed-out half-time rollers, late nineties jungle and the post-dubstep era of the early 2010s all feed into it. As a DJ and live performer he moves across tempo and mood, from left-field techno into breaks and bass-weighted rhythms, and at Elicit nights he pairs his own sets with carefully programmed line-ups. He played Dekmantel Festival in 2022.
