Le Motel

Le Motel is a film composer, graphic designer and producer who draws on his travels to make richly immersive music. It comes detailed with field recordings from remote locations and visual cues from his design work, mixing the organic with the synthetic and everything from jazz to juke, techno to hip hop. He runs Maloca Records, picked up props from Gilles Peterson for an album on New Zealand's Cosmic Composition, collaborated with Fuzati on Ombrage Éditions and went solo into a fusion of breaks, bass and grime on YUKU. A Kiosk Radio resident, he plays sets of earth-quaking global rhythms that start slow but hit heavy, lithe minimal drums fizzing with dystopian energy and evolving from deep and dubby to broken and intense.
