Mark Knekelhuis

Mark Knekelhuis is an Amsterdam DJ and the founder of the Knekelhuis label. He spent years throwing parties in the city under the name Knekelhuisdisco, nights that mixed punk and black metal with Bunker electronics and wave music, and the label followed in 2014 with a first release from Pagan Sector. Based in the Red Light Radio complex, Knekelhuis puts out wave, punk, synth pop, industrial, ambient and techno from outsiders working on the fringes, with a roster that has grown from the Netherlands to China, Azerbaijan and Jordan, and showcases in Istanbul, Paris, Nantes and at Le Guess Who?. He also makes music as Volition Immanent with labelmate Parrish Smith. His approach as a DJ is DIY at heart, drawn to primitivism, imperfection and surprise.
