Masters At Work

Masters At Work is the New York production and remix team of Little Louie Vega and Kenny Dope Gonzalez. Gonzalez first used the name for block parties in the late eighties, and the two began working under it together in 1990. Their music mixes house, hip hop, funk, disco, Latin, African rhythms and jazz into one groove, often with live players. In 1993 they started Nuyorican Soul, a nod to their Puerto Rican heritage, and its 1996 album brought in Roy Ayers, George Benson, Jocelyn Brown, Tito Puente and members of the Salsoul Orchestra. The Ha Dance became a cornerstone of ballroom and vogue culture, and their remixes run from Donna Summer and Madonna to Daft Punk. They played Dekmantel Festival in 2017.
