Amsterdam-based producer and DJ Mayo learned drums, guitar and saxophone as a child and carried punk and metal, reggaeton, downtempo electronics, EBM and techno into what she calls electronic punk music. A self-built modular synthesizer sits at the centre of her productions, known for sinister drum programming and close attention to sound design. Her debut EP Sad Violin Music came out on United Identities, the follow-up Frenemies on Fides, with singles on Brokntoys and remix work for the Berlin label R.I.O. Her path as a DJ is unruly rather than illogical, weaving a wide range of styles into one set, and she recorded a Radio by Minor AM session for Dekmantel Connects.
