Motor City Drum Ensemble

Motor City Drum Ensemble is Danilo Plessow, raised in Schwäbisch Gmünd in southern Germany, where he played drums from the age of six and began making music on a computer at eleven. The name nods to his Detroit influences, to Stuttgart's car industry and to his drum machines. His MCDE label launched the Raw Cuts series, and he has also recorded as Inverse Cinematics, Vermont, Jayson Brothers and Basic-Variation, with the acid house series Rude Futures on Rush Hour. He co-founded Space Grapes, a label for live recorded music with bands such as Jeroboam. As a DJ grounded in jazz, soul and disco, he has mixed for fabric and DJ-Kicks, hosted on Worldwide FM and compiled Selectors 001 for Dekmantel.
