Mozhgan

Mozhgan Shariat was born in Iran and found her footing in Dallas, where she first promoted house music, before settling in San Francisco in 2007, a city she had lived in as a child. In 2011 she started We Are Monsters with Jason Greer, a party built around dark, mysterious dancefloor sounds: disco, techno, cold wave, post-punk and EBM, opening slow and weird and building towards darker techno and acid. She remains a resident there alongside Solar, her frequent back-to-back partner. Her sets pair a dark sound with percussive psychedelia, and they have carried her to Panorama Bar, De School, Boiler Room, Beats in Space and Lentekabinet. Her parents' Iranian records, Googoosh among them, remain part of how she hears music.
