Nabihah Iqbal

Nabihah Iqbal is a London musician, writer and broadcaster, born in 1988 to British Pakistani parents. She studied at SOAS and Cambridge, with a master's focused on African history and studies in ethnomusicology, and worked as a human rights lawyer before music took over. As Throwing Shade she released from 2013, contributed vocals to SOPHIE's early tracks and landed a long-running show on NTS exploring music from across the globe. Under her own name she turned to guitar-led vocal music on the debut album Weighing of the Heart for Ninja Tune in 2017, followed in 2023 by Dreamer, delayed after a studio break-in lost much of her music.
