Nu Genea

Nu Guinea, renamed Nu Genea in 2021, is the project of Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina, two Neapolitans who formed the duo in Berlin in 2014 over a love of studio jam sessions. Their album The Tony Allen Experiments in 2015 reworked drum recordings by the original Fela Kuti drummer. In 2018 they released Nuova Napoli on their own NG Records, a tribute to their hometown that binds acoustic instruments, synthesisers and vocals in Neapolitan, and one of the best-selling vinyl records on Discogs in 2019. With DNApoli and Famiglia Discocristiana they curate Napoli Segreta, a series rescuing obscure Neapolitan music of the seventies and eighties. They tour as a full live band, played Dekmantel and recorded Dekmantel Podcast 227.
