Nueen

Nueen is a Barcelona-based Mallorcan who has put out three albums of beautifully quiet and unhurried ambient in quick succession. Each unfolds with its own intimate sense of narrative and shows deft craftsmanship on synth and guitar. The tunes draw on the atmosphere of his home island, so they fit with what you might call Balearic, but very much on their own terms: warm and gentle, underpinned by a melancholy that makes them all the more engaging. His mixes follow the same logic, roomy arrangements detailed with the wispiest of pads until a dubby, dreamy rhythm emerges and carries you out to sea, with supple drums, drifting pads and shards of light piercing the surface, a perfect soundtrack for a slow morning.
