Om Unit

Jim Coles started out producing jungle as a teenager, then represented the UK at the DMC World DJ Championships as the turntablist 2tall before resetting as Om Unit in 2008. Now based in Bristol, he moves between jungle, footwork, dub, downtempo and ambient without treating them as separate rooms. His album Threads for Civil Music is widely regarded as a bass music landmark, and he has released through Metalheadz, Exit Records and Planet Mu, the latter as Dream Continuum with Machinedrum. As Philip D Kick he fused Chicago footwork with classic jungle. He runs the Cosmic Bridge label, home to Kromestar and J:Kenzo among others, and his recent Acid Dub Studies series takes the dub thread further. He has played Dekmantel Selectors in Croatia.
