Quelza

Quelza is a Dekmantel resident whose productions sit between evocative sound design and plain dancefloor propulsion. The palette takes in minimal, modernist 2-step, complex organic percussion, choppy breaks and IDM-leaning rhythm, with a curious, slightly alien quality running through it. After the Origami and La Danse De L'Albatros EPs, the Pensa Poetico EP on Dekmantel Records marked a shift towards a more direct and personal way of writing, and its track Belly Jolie Movements was picked for the label's Best of 2025 compilation. Live, the sets are energetic and bass-heavy, with vocal and lyrical fragments draped over melodic rhythm, as heard on the UFO I stage at Dekmantel Festival and at the Dekmantel Ten celebrations.
