Rabih Beaini

Beirut-born, Berlin-based Rabih Beaini has DJed since the early 1990s and treats it as research. As Morphosis he recorded an album for Delsin and 12-inches for Honest Jon's and M>O>S, freeing techno frameworks with raw, improvised electronics, before retiring the name with his RA.460 mix in 2015. His label Morphine Records has released Hieroglyphic Being, Madteo, Container and Senyawa and a series of retrospectives on modular synthesist Charles Cohen, and it put out The Sacred Rage compilation after the 2020 Beirut explosion. He plays electronics in the jazz group Upperground Orchestra and curated Raung Raya, a five-night series of Indonesian music at Berghain. His sets collage traditional music, rhythm and voice with avant-garde pieces. He played Dekmantel Selectors in 2021 and 2023.
