Red Greg

Darren Griffiths, known as Red Greg, grew up in East London and came up through the city's blues party and sound system culture, starting to DJ around 1985. Over four decades he has built a deep collection of rare groove, disco, boogie and international records, with a knack for lifting overlooked B-sides from the seventies and early eighties into anthems. Peers including Floating Points and Motor City Drum Ensemble have called him the best active disco DJ. His association with Floating Points and the You're A Melody parties at Plastic People led to work with Melodies International, including the sought-after Disco Baby edit, and he keeps ties with Z Records. Earlier years took in house, hip hop, reggae, acid and jazz funk.
