Regis
Karl O'Connor was born in Dublin and raised in Birmingham, where a grounding in eighties post-punk and industrial music led him to the emerging British techno of Sweet Exorcist, Renegade Soundwave and Richard H. Kirk. In 1993 he founded Downwards with Peter Sutton, alias Female, and with Surgeon shaped the Birmingham sound: Chicago house crossed with darker European electronics. The first Regis record arrived in 1995, followed by the album Penetration in 2001. With Surgeon he formed British Murder Boys in 2002, and with Female, Silent Servant and Function he was part of Sandwell District. Other aliases include CUB, Sandra Electronics with Silent Servant and Ugandan Methods. Later albums include Againstnature, Death Head Said and Hidden in This Is the Light That You Miss.
