Reptant

Lucas J. Hatzisavas has several aliases, but as Reptant, since 2017, he has really excelled. The Melbourne-based reptilian has spread his electro sound far and wide on classy labels from Kalahari Oyster Cult to Trust to Craigie Knowes. His acid-laced machine sounds are often jammed out live before being edited into tracks. They are imaginative, bristle with energy and feed into the alien lizard narrative he has built around the project, not least on his debut album Return To Planet X'trapolis. His sets open a window into that universe: kinetic rhythms and cinematic sound design, all shades of electro from sleazy and ghetto to sci-fi and smooth, with acid lines weaving from dark corners of the cosmos to strobe-lit dance floors among the stars.
