Robert Hood

Robert Hood was a founding member of Underground Resistance in Detroit, the collective's self-styled Minister of Information alongside Mad Mike Banks and Jeff Mills. He left in 1992 and two years later released Minimal Nation, the record that laid out the blueprint for minimal techno: pared-down drum programming pulled from Chicago house, Detroit techno and Midwest funk. His label M-Plant has carried that line ever since, alongside aliases such as Monobox and The Vision. As Floorplan, now a duo with his daughter Lyric Hood, he folds gospel and disco into the same frame. He has played Dekmantel Festival more than once, including a Boiler Room closing set as Floorplan and a UFO stage appearance.
